Organic Soul

Organic Soul is the name of my husband's band. Well yes he does play in more than one band, but this is the one that played out tonight for the first time in a while. Not only did we have our first child, the drummer of the band also had his first child. Needless to say, the band has been on hold for many months. They played at one for their usual spots which was nice because we got to mingle with people we haven't seen for quiet some time. The band sounded great, but then again I am a little bias! We had dinner, visited with some friends (at least I did anyway while my husband was singing), and then I made it home in at decent hour so that I can take care of our precious little angel in the morning, who by the way was already peacefully sleeping when we left!! Here are some pictures of the guys jamming and me with some of my husband's friends ( I suppose after five years they are now my friend too).

I am up two pounds this week, for valid reasons of course. It's amazing how fast a month will go by if you know what I mean. So yes, I am retaining water weight at the moment!

Here is what I did this week:

Saturday: OFF- went to the casino!!!
Sunday: OFF
Monday: 3 miles on the elliptical, 1 mile walk.
Tuesday: 3 miles on the elliptical, 1 mile walk.
Wednesday: OFF- another meeting after school!!!
Thursday: 3.3 mile run on treadmill at an incline of 3 and speed of 6.0.
Friday: 2 mile run on treadmill at and incline of 4 and speed 6.0.

Christie asked us what our "Aha" moment was for this weeks question.

Here is my "Aha" moment:

This picture was taken a day after I had my baby.... but when I saw this picture I thought, holy crap I look like the giant state puff marshmallow man in the movie Ghost Busters!!!! After seeing this picture I knew that I was going to have to work really hard to get the weight off!!! And I have see:
Right after having my baby I was down 20 pounds. Since then I have lost 52 pounds!!! 6 more pounds to reach my goal!!!! YAY!!! But I do have a question for all you ladies out there that have had children and have lost the weight. Do your jeans EVER fit right again? Even though I had lost the weight, none of my jeans fit me?? Am I missing something??? And should I just throw in the towel and go by new ones?

And today we celebrated daddy's birthday at grandma and grandpa Alberts after I got to play all day!!! We had pizza, potato skins, and ice cream birthday cake. I got to practice blowing out candle's with my daddy because my first birthday will be here soon! Thank god my daddy just keeps getting younger because I plan on keeping him very busy!!! The scale finally moved! I am down two pounds this week. However, I am not overly excited about these two pounds because I barely got to work out this week and I know that I just lost muscle mass!!! Monday I had to take my little man to get his sixth month shots, Wednesday I had a meeting after work, and Thursday I took the little man to see his physician. I dealt with a constipated baby, again, all week. My poor baby gets so constipated to the point that he is squealing in pain when he is trying to push, it just break my heart. And you know what the scary thing is? He doesn't even seem like anythings bothering him until he is pushing!!! Anyway, the doctor said that there was nothing major to worry about at this point and that I just had to find a happy medium with the juices and fruits etc... My little man finally got everything out on Thursday and is now free flowing!!! Yipee..... I just hope it stays that way.

As for working out, here is what I managed to squeeze in this week:

Saturday: 3 mile run with dogs, 3 sets of stairs at the park.
Sunday: 3 mile run with dogs, 3 sets of stairs at the park.
Monday: OFF
Tuesday: 3 miles on the elliptical, 1 mile walk.
Wednesday: OFF
Thursday: OFF
Friday: 3 mile run on track, 1 mile walk.

Christie asked us to renew our vows this week. Here are my vows.

*For the next 4 weeks, I will TRY to eat clean.
* I will make a conscious effort to work out 5 to 6 days a week and maybe even start adding some weights into my workout ( I know I keep saying this but time is of the essence when you are a working mom and want to spend time with your baby before he goes to bed).
* I will begin training for the half marathon that I want to run in May, even if I don't end up running in it!!!
* I will try to eat less cakes and desserts that Mrs. S makes for all the teachers at work, she is evil!!! (This will be my most difficult task).
* And I will reach my goal weight or at least I hope... 7 more pounds to go!!!
* I will think about the inspiration and motivation this group has given me to want to be a healthier person!!!!

Taking it off Together Tuesday

Sheesh!!! Again, no change for me. I think I am at a lull. But I will keep plugging away!!! We have a new moderator for our little meme (Ciara).

Here are the results she posted for this week:

This week's prize is brought to us by Julie. She is offering a variety of 100 calorie snacks which is sure to help in the weight loss effort. I've had some 100 calorie snacks, and let me just say, they are delicious. They are also just the right amount when you need a little something to hold you over. Ever see The Biggest Loser? That show uses those babies all the time! :)

Keeping Leigh's tradition of putting names in the cup, the winner this week is Leigh! :)

This week's biggest loser is Leigh with a loss of 4 pounds! So stop by her blog to congratulate her.

Here are this week's results:

Chris - 3.2 LOSS

Look at those pearly whites!!!

Tada!!! I finally captured a picture of my babies pearly whites!!! I thought about saving this picture for Wordless Wednesday, but I just couldn't!!!

Don't let this picture fool you. He is a crazy man in that activity jumper. He jumps, rocks, screams and squeals, and strains his neck to try to get all of the toys that do not come out of their places in his mouth. But he has so much fun. And we have so much fun watching him have fun!!!

We had such a nice weekend doing absolutely nothing. Saturday we ran to BJ's for formula and that was about it. Actually, the only time I got out of my pj's was to take the dogs for our usual weekend runs and to go to BJ's. We just lounged around the house all day and played. Sunday was much of the same thing. Just lounging around and loving each other. We practiced sitting up all weekend. I think we are getting close. And our little man started saying dahdahdahdha... which to me sounds like dad dad!!! You would think he would say mamamama first but NO... it's dahdahdah. Oh well, he'll be saying mama before I know it!

I finally feel like I am getting HOT FOR THE HOLIDAYS!!! I did not lose any weight this week but I can tell that I am finally losing the inches. And to be quiet honest with you, I would rather lose inches than weight. Weight is just a number, it's how I feel that really counts. And even though I've been sick this week, I feel great!!! Or should I say I feel like I look great FINALLY!!! My clothes are fitting better and I am almost back to my size 8 jeans, which for me is good since I am 5'10!!!! Anyway, enough of tooting my own horn... I usually never do that!!!!

Here is what I did this week:

Saturday: 3 mile run and 3 sets of stairs at the park with the dogs.
Sunday: OFF
Monday: 2.5 mile run on treadmill, 1 mile walk.
Tuesday: 2 mile walk with son in running stroller (it was beautiful out and I wanted to enjoy the weather with him!!!)
Wednesday: 3 mile run on track, 1 mile walk.
Thursday: 3 miles on the elliptical.
Friday: OFF

This weeks questions was a fill in the blank posted by Christie.

My life would be better if I had more ________.

My life would be better if I had more TIME. Time to spend with my husband. Time to spend with my child. And time to spend with our families. It's funny... when I was younger my parents would always say, "Don't be in such a hurry to grow up." Well now I know what they were talking about. When I was younger it felt like time stood still and now there just isn't enough of it, if you know what I mean. It seems like only yesterday I was crying and complaining about doing chores before I was allowed to go with my friends and that was about 15 years ago. It seems like only yesterday I moved into my own dorm room on my college campus and that was about 12 years ago. It seems like only yesterday that I finished my masters degree and got married and that was about 5 years ago. And it seems like only yesterday that I had my child was born and that was already over 6 months ago!!! And to think.... I will never get any of that time back. So, I will cherish the time I have now.... even though I wish I had more of it!!!

Wordless Wednesday (the after Halloween, Halloween party at day care!)

Taking it off together Tuesday

Obviously this is a late post due to Halloween and the election. Nothing has normal about the past week to say the least. I reported no change for Taking it off together Tuesday even though I think I did lose something but I'm not quite sure how much so for fairness sake it was safer to say "NO CHANGE". That being said, I am ecstatic to say that I am down 71 pounds. Most of the weight was from my pregnancy. I gained 60 pounds when I was pregnant and have lost all it plus 11 pounds!!! I am pumped. I am only 5-10 pounds away from my ideal weight for me!!! YAY!!! And with the help of Taking it off together Tuesday (Leigh) and Hot for the Holidays (Christie), I know I will make it!!!

Here is Leigh's report for this week:

Congrats to Clara for being this week's biggest loser of pounds!! Be sure to cruise over to her blog and congratulate her!

Chris - 4 GAIN
Tammy - 0.5 LOSS
Life With Hashi-Thyroid Blog - no report
Grace - 0.2 LOSS
Clara - 2.6 LOSS
Julie - 1.2 LOSS
Cheryl - no report
Audrey - no report
Christy - 2.2 LOSS
Tina - no report
Danielle - no change
Jessie - no report
Steph - no report
CYN - no change

This week's total - 2.7 LOSS

Baby update: This past weekend my son found his scream. Not a sad scream but screams and squeals of joy!!!! I swear he is doing something new each and every day!!! I am already losing the baby in him (and he's only six months old).... How does that happen so fast?

Digital Scrapbooking!!!!!!!

Holey Digital SCRAPBOOKING!!!! I thought I was hooked on this whole blogging thing and turns out there is much much much more out there that can and will be occupying my time!! Because of voting today our school district was required to participate in an Education Symposium. And since as educators we like to view ourselves as "life long learners", I decided to go to sessions related to technology (because of things like blogging and plus how great would it be to implement these tools into our classrooms etc....). In my opinion (and probably many others), technology is becoming or is the way of the world (networking, marketing, consuming etc...). Anyhow, at the scrapbooking 101 session that was offered I learned about digital scrapbooking and all I can say is that I am in awe!!! When I first choose that session I thought it would be about the traditional method of scrapbooking, which by the way I have zero creative ability, and I thought why not maybe I'll get into the cutie girlie stuff and start making scrapbooks. But then they introduced the digital scrapbooking and before they could even explain it, I knew I was going to be hooked! How cool is it that I will be able to create albums and cutie pictures while drinking my coffee on a Sunday morning? And then just send the pictures I have created to a site like snapfish and have them printed and shipped to me! Way to cool!!! If this is something you think you would like to get into here are some links that I checked out. If you have the photodraw software on your computer your as good as gold! Good luck and let me know if you try this!

These are just a few of the websites that are out there. And they have free downloads!!!

Sunday Brunch

The pictures in the slide show above are from brunch today. We celebrated Great Grandpa Schilling's birthday at Nuevo Acapulco. The little guy was so excited to finally meet his cousins Greg and Steven, their significant others, and his cousin Christopher. He also got to meet his great Aunt Jean and Uncle Davey.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Great grandpa Schilling!!! We love you!!!

On the way home from brunch we stopped by to visit grandma Dresp. It was the first time we stopped at grandma Dresp's, sad but true. We had a great time! Thanks for making us laugh and giggle!!!
