I'M BACK

YAY!!!! I finally have a connection to the Internet!!! Obviously, the whole Monday thing didn't work out but I'm here now and I'm just so happy to be back! I feel like I have missed so much and I have many blogs to read (and look forward to it) to get caught up.

My weekend was filled with spending tons of time with my baby. I missed him so much last weekend when I went to Kelley's Island and felt like I had so much to make up for!!! We tried carrots for the first time and I'm pretty sure that he didn't like them because he made a YUCK kind of face and then spit them out (pictures to come!).
My husband put together my running stroller (which is like the Cadillac of strollers), so of course we had to try it out. I had already gotten my run with the dogs in, so my little guy and I just walked up to the neighbors who just so happen to be having a clam bake. As much as I would have liked to indulged myself in a clam bake dinner, I didn't. But I did stop down to say hi and so that they could all see my little guy.
Sunday we went to grandma and grandpa Mueller's for dinner. We set up my little guy's activity jumper, talked, and then had dinner (lasagna YUM!). Everybody got there hugs and kisses in with my little guy and then we made our way home to just lay on the bed and talk (like we always do before bed time.)

Works outs have been pretty much the same. I have not lost any more weight in the last week but hopefully the scale will move for Friday!!!

OH NO!!! I am experiencing technical difficulties and for some reason at this very moment (right when I thought my Internet was fixed) I am unable to get to my email to post the results of Taking it off together Tuesday.... :(

Hopefully, I will be able to post my Wordless Wednesday picture tomorrow!
I have missed you all! Good Night!!!

Holy Cow!!!

Life is just not the same when you lose your Internet connection!!! My husband and I decided to bundle some of our services (bills-cable, phone etc..) to cut back on a few bills and it has done nothing but cause us headaches!!! I have been without the Internet since Friday. And it doesn't even get turned back on until Monday. Luckily, I came out to my parents house for a visit today and what do you know, THEY ARE CONNECTED!!!! YAY!!!
Anyway, I will be back tomorrow (hopefully) with updates about my weekend!!! Gotta go!

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL??

Our little man was definitely ready for some football today!!!

Kelley's Island

Tracy, Aunt Laura, Lisa, Grandma Mueller, Me, and Aunty Lynda! The bar we danced at!

Grandma Mueller and Me!

My Aunt Laura owns a house on Kelley's Island and every year she invites the female family members up for a girls night. This was my second trip up to Kelley's Island for girls night! And as usual we had a blast. We ate at the Caddy Shack for lunch, then we went back to my Aunt Laura's house and hung out, and then it was off to the bar for dancing. And did we dance!!! We danced and danced and danced and danced! I haven't danced that much in forever. I even busted out the running man and the roger rabbit!!! It was nice to be able to spend the night out with the girls. However, I did miss my baby terribly and pretty much talked about him a lot of the night and showed his picture to anyone that would look!

Fat Ticker Friday (Hot for the Holidays)

BOO..BOO...BOO!!! I gained two pounds this week?? What the heck? I worked out faithfully as usual.

Here is what I did:

Sunday: 2.5 mile run with dogs, 3 sets of stairs at the park.
Monday: 3 miles on the elliptical.
Tuesday: 3 mile run on treadmill.
Wednesday: 3 miles on the elliptical, 25 sit ups.
Thursday: 3 mile run on track.
Friday: 2.5 mile run on track.

Now on to Christie question for the week.
What's on your life's to do list?

This could potentially be a very long list but since I haven't really thought about it all week, here is the shortened version.

1. I would like to build my dream home.

2. I would like to vacation more (anywhere at this point is fine with me!).

3. I would like to take classes to get my principal license.

4. I would eventually like to have another child (this one should be easy to cross off, just have to convince my husband!!).

5. I would like to learn Spanish ( I took four years of it in high school and now wish I would have continued learning more of it in college).

Like I said, I am sure I could come up with more but this is what I have got for now!!!
Happy Hot for the Holidays!!!

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Things about Danielle

It's been a while since I have posted a T13. Here are thirteen reasons why I haven't been able to!

1.I would rather spend time with my son when I get home from work.

2. I have to feed him, wash him, and play with him.

3. While working.

4. And trying to keep the house straightened.

5. And feeding the dogs.

6. And taking out the garbage.

7. And checking the mail so that I can take care of the bills.

8. And packing my clothes so that I can workout after school.

9. And packing whatever my baby might need the next day at day care.

10. And trying to make dinners so that my husband and I have something to eat.

11. And getting a shower.

12. And trying to spend some time with my husband.

13. And finally trying to get in a little reading before I go to bed!

The first two on this list are the most important. However, the other things need to get done as well!!! You might not see a T13 for a while but, "I WILL BE BACK."

Rice Cereal

At first, the whole rice cereal thing was not going so well but then after my mother-in-law shared her secret on how to get my little guy to eat the cereal we were off to the races!! Okay, now I know I am a new mom and have to learn all the tricks on how to get my son to do things. But really, could I really have thought that sitting him on my lap while trying to feed him rice cereal was going to work? A DUH.... All I had to do was put him in his bouncy chair in front of baby Einstein. You would think that I would have thought of doing something so simple but nope not me. A DUH.... I guess I must like doing things the hard way. Anyway, that was my mother-in-laws little trick (thank you grandma Pat). I swear this pregnancy brain just won't go away!!!
Needless to say, my little guy is chowing down. And thank god because I thought I would never get to the point of introducing veggies, and fruit etc... If he keeps eating as well as he has, my goal is to introduce carrots next week!!! YAY!!! Orange fingers and nose here we come.

Fat Ticker Friday (Hot for the Holidays)

I lost a total of two pounds this week. I didn't necessarily watch my food intake this week because I have been making a conscious effort to healthier foods in general. I figure lots of small healthy meals has to be better than three large unhealthy meals. I worked out every day except for Saturday and have been trying new things, like the elliptical. At first, I did not like the elliptical but now that I have found the weight loss program I LOVE IT!

Here's what I did this week:

Sunday: 3.2 mile run on treadmill at an incline of 3.5 and speed of 5.5.
Monday: 3 miles on the elliptical, 1 mile walk.
Tuesday: 3 mile walk with my son.
Wednesday: 3 mile run on the track, 1 mile walk.
Thursday: 3 miles on the elliptical, 1 mile walk.
Friday: 3 miles on the elliptical, 1 mile walk.

Last week, I tried lifting weights for the first time in a long time and added a few sit ups. I decided that my body needs more time before doing those types of exercises. I felt fine after I lifted but it caught up to me by the weekend. I did not feel right all day Saturday and think that had a lot to do with it. And for the record, I use Taking it off together Tuesday's as my mid week check on the old scale. The pound I reported Tuesday is one of the pounds that I am reporting for our Fat Ticker Friday!

Now on to the question of the week:

"What do you want your legacy to be?"

First I would like to start by saying that I am so glad Christie asked this question. I have been thinking about this a lot lately since having my first child and reading the book The Last Lecture. That being said here is my answer to the question:
I want to lead by example and show my son that hard work and perseverance pays off. I want my family to know that no matter what I will always love them and be there for them. I want to set goals and accomplish them. As many of you know, I am a teacher and as a teacher you kind of become a life long learner. I want learn more about our economy, politics, and the world in general so that I can help my son make the right decisions/choices as he becomes a man. I want to continue to live an active healthy lifestyle (lead by example) so that my son will want to do the same. I want to life to the fullest without regret and for the people in my life to know I have no regrets because in some way or other I care about each person that has crossed my path.

Laughter

This weekend has been very quiet. Friday night we were all in bed by 10:00p.m. Saturday was the usual grocery shopping, laundry, and hanging out with our baby day. And today was hang out with our baby day too! We just kind of laid around the house all day watching football and playing. Our son has been vocalizing for some time now with little squeals and laughs here and there. But today we were cracking up!!! I had him sitting on my stomach so that I could look at his beautiful face and when I pulled him towards my face and laughed, he started laughing too! We did this for about 5 minutes and each time I pulled him towards me his laughs got louder and louder and so did mine. I literally had tears rolling down my face because we just kept on laughing, and laughing, and laughing!!! Those 5 minutes of laughter made my weekend and I now our little guy had fun too! I have a feeling all of us will remember those 5 minutes forever.

Unofficial Fat Ticker Friday

First, let me start by telling what I did this week!

Here you go:

Saturday: 2.5 mile run with dogs and three sets of stairs at the park.
Sunday: 2.5 mile run with dogs and three sets of stairs at the park.
Monday: 2.5 mile run with dogs and three sets of stairs at the park.
Tuesday: 2 sets of walking lounges for a total of 80, lifted upper body light weights high reps should press, bench press, incline press, bench dips, upright rows, triceps, and bicep curls. I tried the sit up thing again (25) and didn't have any pain YAY!!! Then ran 2 miles.
Wednesday: 3 miles on the elliptical.
Thursday: 3 miles on the elliptical.
Friday: 3 mile run.

You would think after all of that and eating healthy I would have lost weight. But NOPE!!! I gained 1 pound... How could that be? I keep telling myself it was the weights... but could one day of lifting have really caused me to gain 1 pound? Honestly, I was really good about eating this week and I haven't had a beer in I don't even know how long (until tonight that is, a girls got to treat herself sometimes!!!).

Anyway, Hot for the Holidays starts Monday and I am ready!!! Plus side on the scale be gone I tell you, be gone!!!

Doctor's visit part II

We finally had our 4 month well visit that I have been anxiously awaiting. Everything checked out on the up and up. Our little guy (okay maybe he isn't so little) weighs 16lbs 4oz, he's 26 inches long, and has a head circumference of 44 inches. I was curious about the head circumference and asked, "What does that number tell you anyway?" and I was told by the nurse that all it means is that his head is bigger than 89% of other babies his age. Was she telling me that my son has a big head? So I asked, "Is this a good thing or a bad thing?" and she said, "Oh no it's fine." FINE.... I hate that word as I am sure most women do. FINE... what the heck? Anyway, he's healthy and that's all that matters because big head or not he's beautiful!!! And according to my husband, he gets his head from me and I just so happen to like my head so of course I love his little (big) cutie patootie head too.
I was told that I could start him on rice cereal and then slowly introduce him to other solid foods such as carrots, squash, and sweet potatoes. All I have to remember is to introduce the yellow vegetable first and then move on from there... piece of cake... I got things covered!!!
We tried the rice cereal today which was the cutest thing ever. My son, as you have seen from many of the pictures loves to put his hand in his mouth at all times, took a couple of spoonfuls that ended up in his nose, all over his hands, and on his checks. He tried to spit some of it out so I too got my dose of the rice cereal. I new by the look on his face that he was ready for bed so we cut the first feeding short so that he didn't have a bad first experience. We will try again tomorrow. I'm already looking forward to my dose of rice cereal.

First walk in the park (Labor Day)

This weekend has been pretty low key. Our little guys runny nose did turn into a cold. I took him to the doctor's on Saturday for them to tell me what I already knew but it made me feel better knowing that it was just a cold. Sunday was not such a good day. I think our son is finally reaching the stage where he just wants to be held all the time, that with the cold made for a long Sunday. He spit up a couple of times, exorcists style, and whimper/fussed all day. I took his temperature and he didn't have one so I guess his little body was just trying to kick the cold. Today he woke up and seemed to be doing much better. During the morning hours he was back to his chipper self so we decided to talk a walk in the park to get out of the house for a little bit. We put him in the stroller without the car seat for the first time and he seemed to like it a whole lot because he was able to see everything. He thoroughly enjoyed his walk in the park riding big boy style!!! And it was nice for us to do something as a family!!!

Walking big boy style with dad.

Me loving our walk with our little guy.

Our big boy in the park... he's just to cute!
